New York City's reputation as an art mecca precedes itself. Every day, new artists flock to the city to develop and showcase their work.

Among these up-and-coming artists is Claire Buckley, a Brooklyn painter whose signature holographic style has quickly built an enthusiastic following online.

Buckley's mesmerizing, psychedelic paintings evoke the feeling of gazing at rainbow light fractals, as often seen through crystals and glasswork.

"My art is about capturing light, the rainbows that come from light, and the small, simple joy we feel when we see it."

A born-and-raised New Yorker, Buckley grew up in Westchester before moving to the city to pursue a career in fashion. She worked in the fashion industry for seven years while painting on the side as a creative outlet.

The city itself helped inspire her work, motivating her to create pieces that transported the viewer away from the hustle and bustle of its streets.

"If I lived somewhere that was slower paced, I'm not sure I would practice art in this way. It's meant to be an escape."

Buckley's paintings quickly became a hit on social media, and she eventually was able to quit her full-time job and pursue art full time.

While Buckley's paintings are bold, contemporary, and vibrant, they are unique in that they can complement multiple spaces and design styles.

"I've seen my art exist in both minimalist and maximalist spaces. Some clients have my pieces in fully white bedrooms, while others place them in more trendy, Art Deco-inspired rooms."

Much of Buckley's work is done on plywood, allowing her to create unique shapes. She also experiments with other mediums, including silk scarves, resin-coated paintings, and digital prints.

"I am always experimenting. Many of my clients ask for my signature style, but I'm always doing different things on my own and testing them out in my studio."

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) does not have a specific entrance exam. Instead, undergraduate applicants must submit SAT or ACT scores (if applicable), along with high school transcripts, essays, letters of recommendation, and other application materials through the Common Application or the MIT entrance exam application portal. For graduate programs, standardized tests like the GRE or GMAT may be required, depending on the department. It’s best to check MIT’s official website for the latest admission requirements.
